Spirt of Play London

The SkillsActive Playwork Southern Tri-region team is holding its first conference in London. Featuring keynote presentation from Wendy Russell, senior playwork lecturer at the University of Gloucestershire. Wendy will speak about "Finding a Voice for Play in the Big Society", explaining why advocating for play is an even more important role for our sector to take on now in light of the new coalition government.

The Everydayness of Play - Beauty of Play Conference

The annual "conference under canvas"; two days of playful discussion about play and playwork in the open air, the Beauty of Play has been running since 2003. The cost of the weekend is £135 per person for Friday eve to Sunday afternoon (£25 off if you book by 12 June)

‘Play for All’ Conference

Following their successful conferences over the last few years, the Somerset Play Forum, supported by Barnardo’s and Somerset County Council is holding a one day conference entitled Play for All – A playful day to support the delivery of inclusive play. Speakers include Martin Narey, Barnardos Chief Executive, Alison John and Di Murray. A variety of workshops are offered in the afternoon : Alison John/Di Murray; World Jungle; Eden Project; KIDS and Barnardos. Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment. Places are £23 for those within Somerset. For those from outside the county £33.

The Big Society: What does it mean for children & families?

This conference will explore what the impact of this radical new approach could mean for children and families, and all who work with them. From local ownership to community engagement, the conference will examine this community based approach and look at ways in which organisations can help shape and lead a more local approach. It will also explore the challenges and the key requirments if this Big Society is to truly tackle families' demanding social and economic pressures of today.
