Play Shaper Facilitator

Do you know the value of play?

Playwork Partnerships are building a team of experienced facilitators with a passion for play to support the delivery of Play Shaper, a new £2.8 million cross-professional training programme.

Play Shaper supports the aims of the government’s national Play Strategy and brings together professionals who build, design and manage local neighbourhoods to improve opportunities for children and young people’s play. Play Shaper is being delivered by a national partnership led by Play England with Playwork Partnerships and SkillsActive.

Following recent piloting of the programme, we are now preparing to roll out Play Shaper to all top-tier local authorities in England over the next two years. Play Shaper events will help professionals to understand the importance of play and their role in the creation of more child-friendly communities.

We are looking for inspirational, confident people with experience of successfully bringing together diverse groups of professionals, from a wide range of disciplines.  As well as being an experienced facilitator, you will have professional expertise in one or more of the following sectors:

Play        Planning, landscape architecture, urban design        Highways and transport      Public health        Regeneration        Housing and social landlords        Police
Parks and leisure        Schools and children’s services        Community engagement

Facilitators with Play experience will be paired with a co-facilitator from a relevant cross-sector discipline to prepare for and jointly deliver one-day cross-professional events, tailored to the specific needs and context of the Local Authority.

Location: some travel and overnight stays may be required as events will be delivered across the nine English regions.

Contract: minimum of four events at £400 per day plus preparation time and expenses.

For more information and an application pack please contact Training Administrator Kelly Conibere on 01242 714603 or kconibere@glos.ac.uk.

Deadline for applications: Friday 19th June

Successful applicants will be invited to an information exchange day on Thursday 23rd July at the University of Gloucestershire. Training will take place on 2nd and 3rd September.
