Great news from Play Wales! Play Wales is delighted to announce the success of our bid to hold the 2011 International Play Association Conference in Wales.
After a lot of hard work and a great deal of support from individuals and organisations around the UK and abroad we carried the day in Hong Kong, and we look forward to working with partners across the British Isles to make this conference a success.
An international conference in the UK in 2011 will be a unique opportunity to showcase the work of play providers in the four nations, as well as a superb opportunity to make international contacts, and to learn from the research and practice of other countries.
We will be looking for sponsors who can help make sure that potential delegates from developing countries (who might struggle to finance air fares and accommodation) can be included in this conference. If you feel that over the next three years you can raise money to support someone, for example, who works to promote the play rights of trafficked children in Togo, or who practices playwork with street children in Brazil, or who works with child workers in Nepal, please get in touch.
When our small bid team has recovered from jet lag, check out our website events pages to find out more; we have exciting and ambitious plans for a five day conference and a film festival, as well as a pre conference tour where international delegates will be able to visit play provision around the UK.
Thanks to everyone who supported us - the really hard work starts here! |
