The Learning and Skills Council’s Train to Gain service provides impartial, independent advice on training to businesses across England. It can help businesses improve their productivity and competitiveness by ensuring that employees have the right skills to do the best job.
Train to Gain gives you access to a skills broker who will carry out a needs analysis of training within your business and help you assess what skills your business has now and what you will need in the future.
The latest funding guidance for Train to Gain contains the awaited flexibilities for volunteers and self employed.
Volunteers are now eligible as long as they do not already have a level 2 and they are ‘working in an organisation which is making use of the Train to Gain service’. Employees within the third sector are already eligible. It would be very helpful if you could circulate this information to as many third sector employers as possible to encourage their participation in Train to Gain.
The self employed are being identified nationally through SSCs contacts. In addition we would like contacts in the region, including SSCs to identify groups of self employed who can be brought to Train to Gain without too much intervention by the brokerage service. This means we are looking for intermediaries who can identify these groups for us. If you are aware of such groups, then please let us know asap and we will agree their eligibility. |
