In June 2008 over 1,000 children living in some of Gloucestershire’s most disadvantaged and socially excluded communities will be facing a future with nothing to do and nowhere to go.
Gloucestershire Children’s Fund has funded projects in Churchdown & Innsworth, Coney Hill, Matson, Podsmead and White City since 2003. These projects have been funded to work with ‘middle years’ children and young people (targeting 5 – 14 year olds) who face disadvantage and social exclusion.
This funding ends in June and with nothing to replace it the threat of closure is imminent. Children, parents, volunteers, playworkers, residents and professionals are extremely anxious and concerned. The play projects have been measuring the IMPACT of closure.
